This beautiful country is ‘showcased’ in this itinerary: Tanzania. You’reClimbing at Mount Kilimanjaro, Tarangire Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti Park will be incredible with game viewing opportunities in rich wildlife areas, and you will learn about the history and cultures of Tanzania. There is no other wildlife experience quite like an encounter with the great migration and the big five of Tanzania (Lions, leopard, Elephants, Rhino and Cape Buffalo), and to experience The Roof Top of Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro.

Machame Route-7 Days:
The Machame route approaches Kilimanjaro through forest and moorland from the south-west and joins the Shira route before traversing beneath the southern ice fields of Kibo. The rainforest is extremely beautiful and there is a tangible sense of wilderness once the higher elevations are reached.
The views of Mt. Meru floating on the clouds is simply unforgettable. We make our final ascent on the Barafu route. The seven-day itinerary gives maximum possible acclimatization and gives us plenty of time to enjoy the magnificent scenery.

General Price conditions for Kilimanjaro 2026:
- Prices assume a 30% non-refundable payment upon confirmation of the trip and the remaining balance be paid 60 days before the trip commences.
- Prices assume no changes in current Park fees and in Park regulations, if any unexpected changes in park or camps fee there will be a surcharge.
- For groups between 13 and 16 pax, there must be a “social leader” in the group, who will be the main point for communication between the guides and the group.
- Please note that we only operate groups of this size if they are accompanied by a tour leader for social and mountain security reasons.
- Rates: All prices shown are NETT, in US$ as stated.
- Language: Unless otherwise stated the language on the tours is English, but we can operate guaranteed departures with German speaking guides and on request we have multi-lingual guides available.
- Luggage: For your own comfort, please limit your luggage on the tours to 15kg (duffle bags). On our trips it is advisable to keep your clothes in dust-proof soft bags. Binoculars and a zoom lens, a torch and a water bottle.
Cancellation conditions for Mountain climb service costs and Park Fees:
If client luggage exceeds 15 kg on Kilimanjaro and an extra porter is necessary, this will be surcharged at the rates below. (Only if the client’s luggage exceeds the required kilograms for the porter)
Extra porters for carrying client daypacks or as a personal porter can be arranged before the trip starts at the same rates.
Mineral Water: Ifclients want to have mineral water (3 litres per day) carried for them during the whole climb this will be surcharged at the rates below. (The below rates are per person)
Only if the client will request to have still water instead of our normal boiled/purified water provided each day at the camp.

Kilimanjaro Gratuities
Many travelers view tipping as a difficult subject, though this need not be the case. The first thing to remember is that tipping is not compulsory, nor are there any fixed amounts. The bottom line in determining whether to and how much to tip is to ask yourself how much the individual did to make your travels more enjoyable. It is with this in mind that we offer the following information.
On a climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro, many travelers choose to tip their guides and porters. PLEASE NOTE that your gratuity should be presented at the end of the climb and should be addressed to all parties concerned, i.e. porters & guides, which will distribute it amongst those who have assisted you during the climb.
The following amounts are suggested as a tipping guideline, and these will vary depending on the number of climbers in your group (the amount is per climber):

Passenger Information:
- Passengers should bring only soft side bags on safaris.
- All the passengers must have a valid Identification Card/Passport with them for internal Flights.
- Baggage on internal flights is strictly limited to 15kgs per person (including hand Luggage).
- Any excess baggage will be charged by the airline at check-in.
- Passengers arriving to East African Countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan) may be asked to present a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate.
Currency:
- Credit and debit cards (MasterCard, American Express, Maestro, Diners Club and Visa) are widely accepted in the cities and at some lodges
- ATMs, banks, and Bureau de Changes are found throughout major towns.
- Cash is king, although it is advised that you limit the amount of money you carry on your person for safety
Health & Medical Facilities
- Ensure that you have adequate travel and health insurance cover.
- Nairobi has excellent medical care and facilities compared favorably with international standards.
- Covid Negative, Malaria Vaccinations and yellow fever certificates may be required when entering the countries mentioned above.

Tipping
Tipping is optional and depends on the level of service. Although it is customary and considered an insult if you do not.
- As a guideline, a minimum of 10% should be added to restaurant bills.
- For your guides/driver please calculate USD 50 per car per day (or equivalent).
- For rangers and trackers when on safari please calculate USD 5 – 10 per person per day (or equivalent).
- Porterage ranges between USD 1 – 2 per person per service (or equivalent).
- For helpful petrol attendants, USD 1 (or equivalent) is perfectly acceptable.
- When assisted by a car guard to your room in the night, it is a custom to tip USD 1-2
Tax– Value-added-tax (VAT) of 18% is charged on most items.
Wildlife Photography:
- Animals don’t stop for selfies, so be quick on the finger!
- Avoid getting too close, some animals are dangerous and in the wild – uncontrollable.
- Experiment at home in the garden and with the cat or dog to learn how your camera works and perfect your technique.
- For instance, which is the anti-motion, or motion button? Does it have a landscape function? What sort of zoom range does it have? How do you set it to manual and change the aperture and shutter speed?
- Observe the animals silently and with a minimum of disturbance – loud talking on game drives can frighten the wildlife away.
- Early morning and evening game drives offer exceptional lighting opportunities.
- Don’t be in a hurry to cover most of most distance, stay in a well set up position for a while – you’ll be amazed by what may enter your frame.
- Most importantly, be sure to enjoy the whole view – not just the one from behind your lens. Stop and look around occasionally!
Safety:
Most areas are as safe as any other destination in the world; however, basic common-sense precautions should be used:
- Ask the concierge at your hotel which areas are safe to walk around in and when
- Travel in groups or pairs and always choose well-lit areas
- Order taxis or transport ahead of time
- Carry only as much cash as necessary
- Don’t leave your property unattended
- Be aware of pickpockets and petty criminals
- Don’t pay attention to yourself by flaunting valuables around openly or counting your cash at the ATM
- Carry a copy of your passport in a separate section of your luggage

Cancellation and Refunds:
Notification of cancellation must be made in writing to Northland Safaris.
Atthe time we receive the cancellation, all money will be refunded less than the following cancellation charges, deducted from the total land price:
- 91 days or more before departure: Cancellation fees equal the amount of your deposit
- 90 to 61 days before departure: 50% of the package price is nonrefundable
- 60 to 46 days before departure: 65% of the package price is non-refundable
- 45 days or less before departure: 100% of the package price is non-refundable
- Within 90 days prior to departure cancellation fees will apply. You may also be responsible for any fees imposed by hotels, airlines etc., that are over and above your land arrangements, due to your cancellation of your original date bookings.
Please note that no partial refunds will be given for unused meals, hotel rooms, airport transfers etc., for any reason whatsoever. Northland Safaris reserves the right to increase the tour price in the event of cost increases due to changes in airfares, currency fluctuations, Park fee increases, fuel surcharges, taxes, etc.

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will meet our company representative after immigration formalities and have a private transfer to Kili Wonders Hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Your Mountain Climbing Guide will meet you in the evening or in the morning for climbing briefing and equipment checklist. The transfer time will be 45minutes.

At 08:30a.m you will be met by the Mt. Guides thereafter proceeding to Machame Gate. The climb starts from Machame Gate (1,800 m.) after a short walk through the attractive banana and coffee farms of Machame village. The path follows a ridge through dense mountain forest. This is the richest forested area on the mountain, and the zone from where 96 % of the water on Kilimanjaro originates.
On sunny days, and especially in the dry season, this section is very lush and beautiful; it can also be a very muddy experience, particularly if it has rained recently! We have lunch at 'Halfway Clearing', a small opening in the trees, and continue climbing steadily. The gradient becomes gentler as the forest slowly merges into giant heather close to the next camp near the ruins of Machame Hut (3,000 m.). We may get our first closer look at the glacial dome of Kibo if the evening clouds permit. [6-8 hours walking]

A shorter day begins by climbing up a steep ridge to reach a small semicircular cliff known as Picnic Rock, there are excellent views of Kibo and the jagged rim of Shira Plateau from here, and it is a good rest point too! The trail continues less steeply to reach the Shira Plateau.
We camp near Shira Cave Camp (3,720 m.) which has some of the most stunning views on Kilimanjaro; close to the huge volcanic cone of Kibo, the spectacular rock formations of Shira Plateau, and looking across to Mt. Meru floating on the clouds. [4-6 hours walking]

A morning of gentle ascent and panoramic views, leaving the moorland plateau behind to walk on lava ridges beneath the glaciers of the Western Breach. After lunch near the Lava Tower junction (4,500 m.) we descend to the bottom of the Great Barranco valley (3,900 m.), sheltered by towering cliffs and with extensive views of the plains far below. A steep climb up the Barranco Wall leads us to an undulating trail on the southeastern flank of Kibo, with superb vistas of the Southern Ice fields. Lunch is usually taken at Karanga, the last water point, in a steep valley. Dinner and overnight at Karanga Camp [3 - 5 hours walking]

After breakfast, the terrain changes to scree and we climb steeply to reach the Barafu Camp (4,667 m.) short rest and thereafter we proceed to Kosovo Camp (4850m), arriving for lunch by mid-afternoon. The remainder of the day is spent resting in preparation for the final ascent before a very early night. [6-8 hours walking]

We will start our ascent by torchlight at about 1 a.m. so that we can be up on the Crater rim by sunrise. The steep climb over loose volcanic screen has some well-graded zigzag and a slow but steady pace will take us to Stella Point (5,735 m.), in about five or six hours.
We will rest there for a short time to enjoy the sunrise over Mawenzi. Those who are still feeling strong can make the two hours round trip from here along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,896 m.), passing close to the spectacular glaciers and ice cliffs that still occupy most of the summit area. The descent to Barafu is surprisingly fast, and after some refreshment, we continue to descend to reach our final campsite (3,800 m.) at the edge of Mweka Forest. Mweka Camp [11- 15 hours walking]

The day spent descending through open moorlands and the glades of forest and straight down through the rain forest down to the Park Gate. A sustained descent through lovely forest with lush undergrowth takes us to the National Park gate at Mweka (1,650 m.) [4-6hour walking] transfer toLake Duluti for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast at the hotel, we drove to Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch for a full day game viewing. This Park, covering approximately 2850 square kilometers, is spectacular in the dry season when many of the migratory wildlife species come back to the permanent waters of Tarangire River. Huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, eland and oryx gather to stay in Tarangire until the onset of the rains when they migrate again to good grazing areas.

Early morning breakfast then transfers to Ngorongoro crater tour with picnic lunch for a full day photographic safari where you will hance chances to experience the big five (lions, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo) then back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
